Corridor smoke exhaust: fan flow and intakes
Enter the largest door from the corridor to the stair or outside and the corridor length. The tool gives the smoke mass flow, fan m³/h, number of intakes and damper area.
Quick answer
The corridor needs 12,562 kg/h smoke exhaust, fan about 20,391 m³/h; 2 intakes, damper area 0.35–0.50 m² each.

- Intakes at corridor ceiling, lower edge not below the top of the doors.
- Normally closed smoke dampers open on fire alarm; fans and ducts heat-rated per design.

Frequently asked questions
What fan does a hotel corridor need?
Stair door 1.2 × 2.1 m, public building, ≥ 25 people: G = 4300 × 1.2 × 0.8 × 2.1^1.5 ≈ 12,600 kg/h, about 20,400 m³/h at 300 °C.
Why is flow based on the door, not the corridor area?
The aim is to stop smoke spilling through the open stair door during evacuation, so the flow depends on door size and the number of people using it.
