Construction work grade (Circular 34/2026/TT-BXD)
Choose the structure type and enter its size. The tool checks each criterion of Annex II Table 2, takes the highest grade, then compares it with the Annex I grade (if the work is listed in Annex I).
The work is Grade II (Buildings and building-type structures).

H* = 150 m for buildings of groups F1.2, F1.3, F4.2, F4.3 and mixed-use buildings (QCVN 06:2022/BXD 1.1.3); 200 m for other buildings. Floor area in m². Highlighted cells are the criteria your work meets.
What the grade is used for
- Deciding which authority appraises the feasibility study and design and issues the building permit; a project with several main works takes the highest grade (Article 3).
- Setting the capability requirements for survey, design, construction and supervision firms and individuals.
- Quality management, acceptance, warranty and maintenance of each work; linear projects are graded work by work.
- Projects approved, or validly submitted for appraisal, before 01/07/2026 keep the grade under the previous rules (Article 5).
Frequently asked questions
A one-storey factory 12 m high with a 60 m span: which grade?
Height 12 m and one storey give grades III and IV, but a 60 m span falls in 50 to under 100 m, so the work is grade II.
A 20-storey apartment block with 2 basements?
8–24 storeys is grade II and 2 basements is also grade II; if the total floor area exceeds 30,000 m² it becomes grade I.
How do Annex I and Annex II differ?
Annex I grades by importance and capacity for each type of work (civil, industrial, infrastructure, transport, agriculture). Annex II grades by structural size. If a work is in both, the higher grade applies.
Is the grade relevant to fire safety?
Yes. Together with use, height and volume, the grade drives the fire safety design appraisal file and the fire-resistance of the structure. See the Fire safety advisor tool to check whether appraisal is required.
